A few words on Brand New - Daisy

New Glassjaw album aside Brand New's new album has probably been my most awaited album of the year and it really does not fail to impress, the level of depth massively exceeds the fore running offerings from the band and offers a new and more mature insight into the band, the bizzare intro is quickly proceeded by Lacey screaming his lungs out which is a theme that continues through out the album, If The Devil & God was the turbulent relationship then Daisy is definitely the catastrophic break up.
The new sound does not make the band unrecognisable as the internet fan boys are making out, but i agree it will not impress fans of the bands earlier work.
I dont write reviews anymore, but i did want to write a few words about this album as it is all i have been listening to for the past week.

Good things
Its raining outside and that has slightly dampened the great mood i was in this morning.
However, I am going to see Star Trek tomorrow, Congo is back next week for a while, we are going to a wedding and I have begun to plan some fun stuff to do with our time.
I am adament that I will still use this blog, and its not that I dont have stuff to talk about. A hell of alot of stuff has happened this year, I just dont feel the need to write about it online, and i have also become busy with work.
I have a new twitter, my old one somehow managed to delete itself so re follow me by clicking the button below
Other musings :
The Lost season finale was insane, I cannot work out how they are going to do Season 6
The New Green Day sounds terrible
http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com is my favourite website this week, hours and hours of entertainment !

Girls and Cupcakes

I woke up this morning and found these on the dining room table, Its my Sisters birthday so i have had to resist ripping the cling film off the top and massacring the whole lot, they look so so tasty!
I need cheering up and I think these would be perfect for that. I always vowed this blog would never become some kind of whiny pussy blog where i write depressing, mopey messages about how "Girls are terrible, bla bla bla"
But today i am utterly confused by females, i would write the full story on here but fear my hosting would get in touch for taking up so much server space. In a nut shell : I've fucked up, I am about to make a huge mistake and am very confused about it
Pffft.... Slightly overly emotional rant over !
Kris Roe was amazing, thanks to everyone of the 450 people who turned out to see him, he played a great set full and did the nostalgia thing brilliantly
Thanks also to Ben Hiard for letting me work with him on it
I'm off to nag people to go to the cinema with me, and try and trick my Sister into giving me one of those Cupcakes

Mark Zuckerberg doesnt like Facebook Bukkake parties
Dearest Mark (or automated response system asking me to view an FAQ)
I have a moment out of my very busy lifestyle to write to you about an issue that has concerned me regarding your facebook social networking site, before I begin explaining please note that I thoroughly enjoy the facebook experience, but would like to make a suggestion.
This morning I began to plan valentines day for my wife, this year after much deliberation she has decided that rather than going out for dinner, spending it with the kids or going to the opera she would like a bukkake party, if your not sure what one of those is I suggest you Google it, anyway.. I began to plan the event, working out how much plastic sheeting I would need for the carpet, how many masks I would need, what sort of food to serve, that was actually quite a difficult task if you have any suggestions they will be readily welcomed ! Maybe a buffet I was thinking ?
Sorry I digress.. When I got to the part of inviting our friends via the medium of facebook I was shocked to see that bukkake was not included as a party type option
Before you begin to argue the point that erotic party should quite happily suffice, I feel that this is hugely ambiguous and ever so slightly misleading, excuse this crude analogy and insight into what I like to get into at the weekend but how would you feel if you Mr Mark Zuckerberg were invited to an "erotic" party, expecting a bit of hankey pankey, a quick hand job in a Jacuzzi and a couple of beers after but no...Instead were faced (excuse the pun) with the sight of ten burly blokes requesting that you get down on your knee's and be used as some kind of come canvas, you wouldn't be a happy
bunny would you !?? You'd ruin your hair and outfit, you might get stung in the eye, and after a while of kneeling in that position your knee's would begin to hurt.. These sort of events need preparation Mark, you must understand that surely.
Please don't make me take this to the next step, I know you love online petitions so I must warn you I am willing to start the "Mark Zuckerberg will introduce Bukkake to the party type if 100000,000 people join this group" petition
Thanks Mark, hope you understand, I have included a diagram if you don't so not to worry!

Oliver replies to Spam

I rarely post on here about work or my personal life, in fact the common reader who found this blog through google probably knows very little about me aside from that I often enjoy going to the cinema, have a prolific infatuation with the band Glassjaw, have brown hair, blue eyes, and a friend I refer to as Congo who now lives in Kuwait
I never post about what I do for a living and don't intend on doing so, however on this one occasion I will give a little insight into what I do between the hours of 9 and 5 Monday to Friday.
I do not work in SEO/I.M at the moment, however I work for an importer of clothing who in the next few months will be launching a retail site, when this goes live I will probably be a bit more pro active in posting about it on here, I am currently in the late stages of developing the website, and as we speak am actually digressing from writing product content. For the last month I have learnt pretty much every aspect of optimisation and as a result now get daily spam emails from companies trying to sell my backlinks and "solutions to improve my rankings"
Normally I ignore these but one lunch time last week I was more bored than usual and decided to write a response, I am not going to post details of the site in question or the company that sent me the email as they could be a genuine company full of lovely smiley happy staff and I wouldnt want to ruin their reputation.
The email read as they usually do, something along the lines of :
" Hello, i have looked at your website and you don't have enough backlinks to get good rankings on google, we will give you some nice ones if you give us lots of money, here's loads of dull, irrelevant statistics that I just made up on the spot and probably mean nothing, lots of love Benjamin the SEO consultant"
Heres my response :
"Hello Benjamin
Thank you for your lovely email, however I am afraid i have never heard of this google.com that you speak of
we originally had a highly trained team of Romanians in house providing us with back link building of the highest level, however as i will explain later our traffic has taken a turn for the worst and we have had to send half of them back to the orphanage, some were upset at this decision and actually took some of their backlinks back home to the Motherland with them, that is why our links are down at the minute.
We mainly opted to focus our sites listings on my former favourite search engine Ask Jeeves, when launching the site my head of IT agreed that this would work very well as everyone loved Jeeves and thus the decision was made
Initially this was a great idea as house wives through out the country flocked to the site trying to find out where they could buy their man a leather jacket and in turn sample the charm and ever so slightly raunchy delights of Jeeves
However since the sites re branding and removal of Jeeves from the site I have been dissapointed with the sites results, is it possible that behind that loveable cartoon persona Jeeves was a real person and could actually answer all the questions that people wanted to know ? If so I think he must have taken all his answers with him when he left ask.com
I would be interested to hear about this google that you speak of, is there an animated character answering questions involved with this website ?
If not i am afraid i probably wont be interested.
Look forward to hearing from you
Oliver
xx"
The person didnt respond :( In reality Benjamin probably doesnt even exist.. Damn!
